On the North York Moors

Willy Mason

Sun 28 August 2011

All the way from Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, with a slight detour through Maggie's Farm, inspirational American singer-songwriter Willy Mason returns here after four years to play the Sunday of this year's August Bank Holiday weekend - the night before the 104th Farndale Show.

Having survived the 'new Dylan' tag in some style, Mason has gone on to grace stages right round the world. Likened to BRIGHT EYES, BECK and WILL OLDHAM he's played with NORAH JONES and ISOBEL CAMPBELL, recorded with ROSEANNE CASH KT TUNSTALL and toured with RADIOHEAD.

No-one has fused folk, country and rock better than him - except maybe BOB DYLAN, JOHN MELLENCAMP and JOHNNY CASH. A country boy at heart, we're hoping Willy might like to do a bit of drystonewalling while he's here...
