Mark Peters is a name that should feature in a future Band Room Walk of Fame because alongside his work with super cool Shoegaze / Dream Pop outfit Engineers, Peters produced the PA here for three or four years, finessing the sound for greats like Willy Mason, Anais Mitchell, Meg Baird and Vashti Bunyan. Yes, you were right. You thought you'd seen him somewhere before - and you did!

But Peters has now moved on, his latest album Red Sunset Dreams (recipient of a 4-star review in Uncut) an Electronic / Ambient classic featuring pedal steel legend BJ Cole and cult 90s band One Dove's singer-songwriter leader Dot Allison, creator of one of the finest covers of Dolly Parton's Jolene.

Following a career-defining three-album collaboration with German electronic maestro Ulrich Schnauss - for six years a key member of world-famous Tangerine Dream - Peters is now on a rapid upward trajectory. Infuenced and informed by Dave Gilmour, Pink Floyd, Brian Eno, the Cocteau Twins and Spiritualized, his music reminds us of the great Teutonic mainstesters of the '70s (formerly aka 'Krautrock'), interwoven with timeless evocations of some of our favourite soundtracks of all time: Jerry Garcia's spellbinding playing for David Crosby, BJ Cole's wizardry on the KLF's Madrugada Eterna, Diamond Head-era Phil Manzanera and David Sylvian's 1980 classic Gone to Earth...

And hey, here's two shows for the price of one - because not only is Mark Peters totally unmissable but this is also the best weekend to witness Farndale's annual scenic wonder when millions of wild daffodils (narcissus pseudonarcissus) carpet the valley floor in a sea of yellow. No need to bring the light show then, Mark...
